Eleven members have been awarded honours in the Order of Australia .
Dr John Paull OAM – June 2021: This award is recognition of John’s outstanding contribution as a specialist anaesthetist for over 40 years and more recently for his publications on the history of anaesthetics.
Dr Robin Smith OAM and Mrs Elizabeth Smith OAM – In June 2016, Robyn and his wife, Elizabeth, were awarded Medals of the Order for service to the community of Tasmania, and to migrants.
David Hartley PSM – In January 2015, David was awarded a Public Service Medal for outstanding public service to the forest products industry in Western Australia through sustainable management, corporate governance, and market development.
Paul Richards AM – In January 2015, Paul was appointed as a Member in the General Division of the Order (AM) for significant service to medical radiation sciences, and to the community, particularly through providing emergency patient and family accommodation.
David Harvey OAM – In January 2009 David was awarded a Medal of the Order for service to the community of Launceston through the Scouting movement, the Baptist church, and a range of sporting organisations.
Brian Mathews OAM – In January 2009, Bran was a warded a Medal of the Order for service to the community, particularly through roles with veteran car clubs and the establishment of the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania Foundation.
Ivan James AO – In June 2007, Ivan was appointed as an Officer in the General Division of the Order for outstanding service to the manufacturing industry, particularly the automotive component sector and through the Australian Industry Group, and to the community through church and overseas aid organisations.
Trevor Challen OAM – In June 2004, Trevor was awarded a Medal of the Order for service to the community in Tasmania, particularly through Camp Quality, and the Royal Automobile Club of Tasmania.
James (Jim) Anderson OAM RFD – In June 2002, Jim was awarded a Medal of the Order for service to the community of Tasmania. Prior to that date, Jim was also awarded the Reserves Forces Decoration (RFD) for efficient long service as an Officer in the Reserve Forces.
Terry Childs OAM – In January 2002, Terry was awarded a Medal of the Order for service to the community through participation in heritage and service organisations, and to education.
Dr John Morris AO MBE- In June 1985, the Queen appointed Dr Morris as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for service to the medical profession and the community. In January 2001, he was appointed as an Officer in the General Division of the Order (AO) for outstanding service to medicine, particularly as a consultant physician, and to the community through educational, medical research and social welfare organisations.
