About

This Club was established in 1982. Our objectives are:

  • To advance intellectual and cultural interests among men who have retired or are semi-retired from their former occupations.
  • To hold regular meetings and arrange activities to provide opportunities for fellowship, the development of acquaintance, and social interaction.
  • To be seen as a worthwhile organisation by the local community.

We meet monthly on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Launceston Golf Club. Our meetings last from 10 am to 12 noon, and we invite guest speakers to inform us about history, science, art, culture, and contemporary economic, social, and political issues.

In addition to our monthly meeting, the Club has a number of special interest groups including lawn bowls, history, photography, fine dining, travel, theatre, writing and walking that enable our members to share their individual interests, broaden their horizons, and make new friends.

Retirement can be a challenging experience but our members find that they are able to share their experience with others and retain an interest on their profession and their community through regular contact with their peers. We also maintain contact with members when they are no longer able to attend meetings, which is an important pastoral role within a community such as ours.

The joining fee for the Club is $30.00 and the annual subscription is currently $65.00 which makes it affordable for all our members.

Our members come from a diverse range of occupations. We have four accountants, an army officer, a coffee farmer, a dental surgeon, a dental surgeon, a dentist, an electrical contractor, four engineers, four farmers, a geologist, a health administrator, a historian, an HR educator, three managers, a marketer, two medical practitioners, a microbiologist, a mine manager, a nuclear scientist, three pharmacists, a professor of music, a quantity surveyor, a real estate agent, two senior public servants,  a rural officer, a sociologist, a retailer, a salesman, a scientist, a company secretary, a ships pilot, two surveyors, five teachers, a technical officer, and a veterinarian.
